Open Positions in the Computer Networks Group

Overview

The Computer Networks Group of the University of Basel has two immediate openings for

for the forthcoming 4WARD project to be funded by the EU under the ICT Objective "The Network of the Future".

4WARD explores a new approach to networking architecture that is more flexible and better adapted to present and future requirements by creating a family of dependable and interoperable networks. 4WARD's goal is to make the development of networks and networked applications faster and easier, leading to more advanced and more affordable communication services. Keywords are: network virtualization, network of information, rich path abstraction, self-managed networks.

Profile: Potential candidates must have a Masters (or PhD) degree in CS or EE with a background in one or more of the following areas: computer networks, operating systems, distributed systems, concurrency calculi. Knowledge in autonomic networking, resilience or Linux kernel programming is an advantage.

Candidates must be fluent in English (written and spoken). German is not required, but is an asset for the life in Basel.

The successful candidates are expected to contribute to research and to participate in the teaching activities of the Department.
