Since 1st July 2010, I no longer work at the University of Basel.
To reach me, send emails to christophe.jelger [hosted at] webcreators.fr

I'm a postdoctoral researcher in the Computer Science Department at the University of Basel, and a member of the Computer Networks Research Group.

My current research interests are focused on autonomic communications and wireless ad hoc networking. In the field of Autonomic Communications, I am interested by functional composition, i.e. the on-demand and dynamic binding of network compartments (services) and routing entities. See the ANA Project (Autonomic Network Architecture) web page. In the area of wireless networking, I am interested in address autoconfiguration, name resolution, and underlay forming in hybrid ad hoc networks, i.e. which are connected to the Internet via gateway nodes. Adress autoconfiguration is based on the original concept of "private address maps", where each MANET node locally maintains a conflict-free view of other nodes' addresses. MANET name resolution emulates the behavior of the DNS system in an underlay located below IP, in which names are generated dynamically with a set of user-defined attributes.

Mini-CV:

From November 2004 to May 2006 I was sponsored by an ERCIM postdoctoral fellowship
(see www.ercim.org for details). I spent the first 9 months at the University of
Basel, and the next 9 months at Fraunhofer FOKUS, Berlin Germany, in the ANTS group
(Autonomic Network TechnologieS), in collaboration with M. Smirnov.

2000-2001: MPhil in Optical Networking. University of Wales, Swansea.
MPhil Thesis: Characterisation of a Wavelength Division
           Multiplexing Multi-Ring Network
1997-1998: Honours Degree (BEng) in Electronic Communications (II.1).
           University of Salford, England.
1996-1997: First year of studies in an engineering school.
ESIAL - Université Henri Poincaré (Nancy I).
1994-1996: BEng in Telecommunications and Networks Engineering (I).
IUT de Colmar, Université de Haute-Alsace, France.

From Nov. 1998 to Sept. 2000 I was a Network and System Engineer in the
IT Department of the University of Haute-Alsace, IUT de Colmar, France.
